SPARTACUS
SPARTACUS
Item: SR71995
Bronzed Resin Statue finished by hand in each particular detail.
Spartacus (111-71 b.C.) was a Thracian gladiator, known as the leader of the escaped slaves in the Third Sevile War, leading the big slave uprising against the Roman Republic. Around 75 b.C., after being sold to Lentulus Batiatus, he became a gladiator. Then, two years later, exasperated by the inhuman conditions made by Lentulus, he became the aggressive leader of about 3.000 slaves until his defeat in the city of Petelia. He has become an example of the fight of the oppressed people against the strong powers.
